Background of Drakey Pangtsho. It's said that the original name of the lake is Drake Phamtsho which means a lake on the lap of Juwo Drake; the protective deity of Paro Valley. In another oral tradition, it's said that the original name is Dragay Phangtsho which loosely translates as a 'lake on the lap of a cliff. In the northern part of Paro, at around 4300 metres above sea level; hidden and teal coloured lake famously known as Drakay Pangtsho is beautiful hiking spot.
